Dota 2: Valve Changes Qualifiers to Accommodate Midas Mode 2.0

The community has done it!

After several days of constant Reddit threads, tweets and more, Valve has finally decided to change the dates of the first qualifiers in order to make room for Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner’s fun tournament called Midas Mode 2.0.

What happened

In case you’ve missed it, Valve announced the new dates and rules for the upcoming DPC. Everything seemed okay at first sight but then, it turned out the first qualifiers are overlapping with Midas Mode 2.0 which was announced way before the dates of the new DPC. Needless to say, this led to a severe backlash from many people.

Fortunately, Valve has proved once again that they listen to the community. After two days of pressure, they finally “succumbed” and decided to change the dates. The new qualifier dates are between the 5th and 10th of October.

Midas Mode 2.0 will be held on the same dates as it was planned – from the 24th of September to the 2nd of October.

Reactions

Many players praised Valve for their actions. However, SirActionSlacks and Moonduck were undoubtedly the happiest people in the world right now. After all, they’ve been planning this tournament for a while now. It was going to be very sad if they had to cancel it just due to a schedule overlap.

Which Teams Will Participate?

The big question now is to see which teams will actually take part in the tournament. As you know, last year there were many world-class names such as Team Liquid and OG, for example. That said, this year the prize pool is even more lucrative so who knows, we might see all top teams playing at a fun event. How cool would that be?!
