GRID Replace CCT Circuit Studio Finals With Online Events

The organizers announce five $200k USD online events instead of 10 $100k USD studio events to ease fixture congestion

 

GRID and their partners have decided to restructure their upcoming Champion of Champions Tour to allow participating teams more flexibility amid their busy schedules. As per the unanimous decision, the remaining ten events of the CCT Circuit Studio Finals will now take place as five Online Finals. The organizers have announced the date of the first Online Finals, which will be played between May 23-30, but they are yet to release the remaining dates.

GRID have also announced that they will increase the prizemoney for each event to $200k USD from $100k USD, so that the collective prize pool of $1m USD remains the same. 

It appears that there have also been structural alterations. For each of these tournaments, two regions will participate from which three teams will be able to secure a podium finish. Later, 10 more teams will join the mix, who will receive direct invitations. 

GRID and Eden Esports organized the first CCT Studio LAN event, CCT Central Europe Malta, in February this year, where a prize pool of $100,000 was up for grabs. Eight teams fought for the biggest slice of the prize pool cake and a one-time opportunity to get qualified for the Global Finals 2024.

The event took place in mid-February and was GRID’s most popular as it gained massive viewership. The world witnessed Eternal Fire emerge to the top crushing the Turkish squad BNE in the Grand Finall. 

At the time, the runners-up were also participating in the closed qualifiers for the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe Regional Major Rankings. 

GRID’s decision to trim their calendar may have been a strategic move in order to retain some of that viewership CCT gained in its first event since BLAST.tv and ESL already have the most event frame time.
